Ashenfrey roughly translates as fallen forest spirit. They have nothing in common with actual spirits but are instead creatures created by evil gods which were first sighted in the night forest. Terror does not describe the feeling which they provoke in their victims with their oversized heads, eyes and teeth. Even vampires are afraid of them and steer well clear of areas of the forest infested with Ashenfrey.
